As before, we enjoy two new Sponsors in support of our HCx3DP Community. iMakr New York is our Venue Host and the Internet Society’s New York Chapter is our Collaborating Sponsor.

(1) iMakr Store New York will generously house and host our 12 March Meetup. We will gather-in at the innovative retailer’s store on the Lower East Side of Manhattan (152 Allen Street). Because iMakr will be demonstrating its printers live for our Community attendees on 12 March, we’ll start our Event a half-hour earlier than usual—at 6:00 PM (with a soft end-time of 8:30 PM).

(2) Albums of Innovation As I’ve said before here and in my blog—and touch on regularly in my Albums of Innovation—I also foresee a 3DP retail-driven support infrastructure for DIY Healthcare participants and players. This is likely to be engined by potential marketplace synergies around entirely new HCx3DP communities—like the now-worldwide e-NABLE “society” (volunteer-printed child prosthetics), Maker Nurses at hospital complexes (3DP’d patient-centric innovations in the Supply Closet) and DIY Bio Lab experimenters (applying 3DP technologies to DIY/DIT lab equipment, DNA sequencing and bio-hacking).

(3) Sylvain Preumont is the Founder & Director of iMakr of London and New York City. Sylvain’s innovative retail operations foreshadow how this rapidly developing 3DP segment of DIY/DIT end-users, makers, consumers and prosumers are likely to support, lead and invent much of 3D Printing’s future.

(4) David Solomonoff, President of the New York Chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC-NY). ISOC-NY is a nonprofit that works for open development of technology, Internet freedom and access for all. ISOC-NY is a Chapter of the global Internet Society (ISOC)—founded by Vint Cerf, “the father of the Internet.”

ISOC-NY has recently begun to address issues of new Net-connected technologies at the intersection of the virtual and real. This novel space includes medical devices and implants, networked 3D printing, augmented and virtual reality—as well as Bitcoin and Blockchain 2.0.

David will address issues of privacy, security and civil liberties around the impact of the “Internet of Things” (IoT) on Healthcare. IoT is poised to revolutionize HC—with such innovations as 3DP-created and RF-enabled Medical Devices supporting Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) via wearables, mobile apps, mHealth and Big Data.

(5) Nathan Ghabour, Employee #1 and Lead Biomechanical Engineer at NYC-based SOLS will talk about his rapidly expanding startup-company and how it provides custom-3DP’d orthotics. SOLS orthotics are created using next-generation data capture and digital modeling technology. SOLS are custom-engineered to the individual’s foot morphology, body and lifestyle. The SOLS process is entirely digital, offering greater ability to correct body misalignment through prescription features and material properties.

(6) Victor Ty, Registered Nurse in Pediatric Radiology at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, is a Maker, ex-officio MakerNurse (makernurse.org) and LEGO Medical Designer who is now experimenting with 3D-printing of components for his own LEGO Digital Designs. Victor hopes to print out a prototype while at iMakr Store 12 March. Victor will also bring his LEGO-built replica of an MRI device. This very detailed “model” is designed to familiarize children—undergoing radiological procedures—with the processes and equipment they will experience during tests: reducing anxiety.

(7) Alex Meacham will present on very inexpensive BUT very effective DIY/DIT 3DP hand prosthetics for children.

Audience members will also have an opportunity to introduce themselves and their interests. Light refreshments will be served. And, the evening will conclude with a soft-ending at 8:30 PM.

So, please be sure to RSVP here for our “HCx3DP Meetup NY”—Thursday, 12 March—at your earliest convenience. Plan to participate in this rich and enriching Event at the iMakr New York Store. Looking forward to seeing you there! (Details: 152 Allen Street, Lower East Side; 6 to 8:30 PM. HCx3DP?s Event/RSVP fee is $20 per person; by credit card at www.Meetup.com/HCx3DP-NY/ or at the iMakr door in cash).

Best!
